Heavy Quark Physics from SLD

This report covers preliminary measurements from SLD on heavy quark production at the Zu, using 150.000 hadronic Zu decays accumulated during the 1993-1995 runs. A measurement of Rt, with a lifetime double tag is presented. The high electron beam polarization of the SLC is employed in the direct measurement of the parity-violating parameters At, and Ac by use of the left-right forward-backward asymmetry. The lifetimes of B+ and B” mesons have been measured by two analyses. The first identifies semileptonic decays of B mesons with high (p,pt) leptons; the second analysis isolates a sample of B meson decays with a twodimensional impact parameter tag and reconstructs the decay length and charge using a topological vertex reconstruction method. *This work supported by the Department of Energy, contract DE-AC03-76SFOO515 (SLAC). @1995 by Robert Messner.

Results on heavy quark fragmentation obtained using the SLD detector at the SLAC Linear Collider are presented. This talk will cover the ratio of vector to pseudoscalar charmed meson production, the inclusive B hadron energy distribution, the inclusive particle production in heavy jets compared to their production in light jets, and charged and neutral B meson lifetimes.
